BASIC EXERCISES
This basic exercises will help you develop coordination before
getting on the drumset and to play more relaxed.
You can do these exercises on a practice pad or a rebound-free
surface, like a towel, to develop wrist strength.
Play the exercise with your leading hand first, and then with
the other hand (if you’re left-handed, lead with the left
and then play it again, leading with the right).
SINGLES: Play one stroke with the right hand, the next with
the left and so on. Invert the pattern next.
DOUBLES: Play two strokes with the right hand, the next two
with the left and so on. Invert the pattern next.
PARADIDDLES: This exercise is a combination of singles and
doubles. Play one stroke with the right hand, one stroke with the
left, and then two with the right. Next, play one stroke with the
left, one with the right and two with the left.
Invert the pattern and repeat.
Down below you will find exercises on PDF format and drum transcriptions of popular songs made by yours truly. The material is available for free. If you enjoyed it or find it helpful, any donations are much appreciated.
